MINNESOTA DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE

Many people other than family law attorneys and individuals who have obtained a divorce, have not heard the expression “Minnesota dissolution of marriage.” Per Minnesota law, the word “divorce” is referred to as “dissolution of marriage” by the Courts. Which, of course refers to the process of dissolving a marital relationship (which is akin to the process of dissolving a corporation, etc.). Thus, to commence a divorce proceeding, the initiating party must serve a “Petition for Dissolution of Marriage.” So, when you hear Minnesota attorneys and Judges referring to dissolution of marriage, they simply mean divorce. For more information on the Minnesota dissolution of marriage process and procedures, you may contact Adam Blahnik, who is a Minnesota dissolution of marriage attorney and Prior Lake lawyer at Blahnik Law Office, PLLC.
